Broughton Hall, Yorkshire Dales National Park
United Kingdom

We created a truly bespoke door design for this unique wellbeing centre, situated within the idyllic 3000 acre estate of Broughton Hall on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The brief for the door design was based upon a Fibonacci spiral; a series of connected quarter-circles drawn inside an array of squares. This concept was used throughout the design of the wellness centre.

The logo was required to be in a RAL lacquered finish while the rest of the door was a specific stained oak colour. The combination of the lacquered shapes in the logo and the stained oak involved an intricate construction technique of the door combined with the requirement that they needed to be certified fire doors.

Another requirement was that the client wanted the frames to protrude either side of the wall with no architrave. To achieve this, we used concealed Tectus 3D hinges and magnetic latches to prevent a conventional latch hitting the frame when closing the door. For the self-closing mechanisms required on the fire door sets, we used concealed overhead cam closers.

“The Fibonacci doors are an important prominent design feature at Avalon and sit beautifully to enliven the building. To achieve a door of distinction can be victory and it was in our case” – Owner of Broughton Hall
