Decorex 2024

This year’s Decorex International, held at the prestigious Kensington Olympia, London, marked an exciting new chapter for us as we had the privilege of showcasing SWD Bespoke to some of the most renowned designers and industry experts. Decorex is known for celebrating luxury design and innovation, and provided us an invaluable chance to connect, inspire, and be inspired.

From the moment setup began, exhibitors from around the world were assembling their unique displays, turning the exhibition hall into a vibrant showcase of colors, textures, and stunning designs. Our team had spent weeks planning and designing our stand to ensure it highlighted the very best of SWD. Watching our space come to life, especially as the final details were added, was a proud and fulfilling moment.

Our Stand

Our stand at Decorex International 2024 became an instant focal point, captivating everyone who walked by with our exclusive TV shelving unit featuring striking liquid metal sliding doors. This center piece drew attention from all directions. On either side of the unit, we showcased two impressive 2.4-meter-high dual-design doors. One door was from our Sophie Paterson collection, highlighting the London model with a unique fluted middle panel, finished in a rich Taupe oak stain. The second door was equally show stopping, a flush design with elegant antique brass inlays, finished in a refined sycamore veneer. The internal sides of these doors offered a contrast of sophistication: one in sleek black high gloss and the other in a flat panel design. 

Adding to our impressive stand, our side entrance featured antique brass arched double-glazed doors, which had every passerby stopping in their tracks. At the entrance to our stand, we displayed two of our metal screens from the Sophie Paterson collection—the Ripple and Vivaldi screens. These screens sparked countless conversations, as visitors were drawn to their simple yet elegant designs, showcasing how functional beauty can elevate a home’s aesthetic.

In the corner of our stand, we created a stunning banquet seating area that became a cozy yet stylish element for visitors. The seating featured a fluted oak base with an elegant dark bronze inlay, providing a perfect balance of texture and refinement. To complete the look, we added a plush sage green velvet cushion for the seat, infusing a touch of softness and luxury. On the opposite wall, we proudly displayed our bespoke hardware range, showcasing an array of lever handle designs, pull handles, and more. Each piece was presented in a variety of luxurious finishes, with the solid brass hardware stealing the show for its premium feel and craftsmanship. Visitors were particularly drawn to the tactile experience of the hardware, appreciating the attention to detail and the sense of timeless elegance it could bring to their own spaces.

We had the pleasure of collaborating with John Cullen Lighting for our Decorex stand, and their expertise in architectural lighting truly elevated our exhibit. They designed a bespoke lighting plan that highlighted all the key elements of our stand, creating an immersive and visually stunning experience. Uplight's were strategically placed to accentuate the metal screens at the front, drawing attention to their elegant design, while additional uplight's highlighted the grandeur of our arched glazed doors. Overhead, ceiling lights were perfectly positioned to illuminate our showcased doors and the central joinery unit, as well as the hardware wall, ensuring every detail shone with precision. The thoughtful lighting design by John Cullen Lighting enhanced the ambiance and drew focus to the craftsmanship of our work, making it an integral part of our stand’s success.

Highlights of the Exhibition

One of the highlights of Decorex 2024 for us was the opportunity to engage in conversations with industry leaders and peers. These exchanges provided insights into their designs and allowed us to share our own experiences. We were especially excited to connect with like-minded designers and brands who are pushing the boundaries of what's possible in interior design.We were particularly proud by the number of people who expressed genuine interest in our story and family business, how we started, our creative process, and what drives our passion for design.

The event also featured interesting seminars and talks from industry experts. We attended a few sessions that delved into topics like sustainability, the future of design technology, and the evolving role of craftsmanship. These discussions were not only inspiring but also reaffirmed our belief that the future of design lies in the fusion of tradition and innovation.

As we reflect on our experience at Decorex International 2024, we are filled with excitement for the future. The event made us realise our commitment to creating beautiful and functional designs that resonate with both our clients and the wider design community. We’re returning with fresh ideas, new partnerships, and a renewed sense of purpose.
