Located in the Eastern Caribbean, between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Sea lays Antigua. With crystal clear blue seas and sandy beaches to look onto, Villa Papillon is the only place you would want to stay.
This newly built property on the South West Coast of Antigua is 8000 sq ft and set across 5 different floors, featuring 6 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, a spacious open plan living area, outside bar, 2 dining areas, an infinity pool with terrace, a sun deck and a gym. Mother and daughter Sarah and Rosie Ward from Ward & Co designed this home with unique design choices bringing colour and life into the space. Each room has a neutral base with pops of colour through soft furnishings and statement pieces throughout. Take for instance one of the bedrooms, a natural cream colour sets the tone of the room, but added at the end of the bed is a brightly coloured, patterned sofa. This sofa lifts the feel of the room and brings a warm feeling to this incredible room with a view you can't beat.
The layout of the property was heavily prompted by the steep contour of the land and the outstanding views surrounding the property, while the colours, textures and patterns throughout the interiors were carefully chosen to reflect the Caribbean culture.
Greeting you at the entrance of the property is our signature Chelsea high security door in a bright turquoise finish inspired from the onlooking crystal-clear sea. The front door is one of four security doors throughout the property, the others leading you through to the gym, the studio and an external bathroom. Our client wanted the internal side of these three external doors to match the interior doors so we made 12mm panels in the same design and finish, so that everything looked uniform from the inside. The same ironmongery was also used on the internal side of the doors.
Leading you from room-to-room is our R109 door model with three-step beading and a bespoke stain made specifically for this project, which tied in with the colour palettes and schemes for the interiors. The ironmongery for all internal doors was in an antique brass finish and all lever handles were from our Heath collection which is made from solid brass.
Now featured in Architectural Digest, Stefanie Waldek wrote, "Take, for instance, Villa Papillon, a breathtaking new-build villa in Antigua owned and decorated by the mother-daughter design duo Sarah and Rosie Ward. For vacations the property is a treasure - it's an impeccably designed home, far above and beyond the majority of what you'd find on a rental site. But per its availability calendar, it's open for rent most weeks for the next year, indicating that its owners may not use it personally very much at all, whether by choice or necessity."
This incredible home away from home is welcoming and the perfect escape from everyday life. Whether you are looking for a winter or summer break, vanishing to this picturesque island is a must and arriving to a beautifully situated and decorated home with stunning views will make your holiday complete.
